Ovulation test are helpful in two ways, one - to confirm your pregnancy and two - to help you increase your chances of pregnancy by determining the ovulation period. Ovulation occurs once in every period cycle. During this time, unfertilized eggs are released. These unfertilized eggs have a life span of 24-36 hours. By conducting the Ovulation Test you can determine the best time of the Ovulation which will increase your pregnancy chances.
Ovulation Test Method:
The first day of the period is the start date of the menstrual cycle and the day before the start date of the next period is the end of the menstrual cycle. During this cycle there are many changes in the body. At the start of every menstrual cycle a hormone called Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) is released. This hormone helps in building the follicle on the ovaries. These follicles contain the Ovum or the Eggs. These eggs develop inside the follicle. When these follicles are completely matured they burst and release the eggs or the ovum into the fallopian tube due to the sudden surge of the Luteinizing hormone (LH) and this starts the Ovulation in the body.
The Ovulation Test will detect the surge of LH by introducing an antibody in the sensitive testing membrane. When the test results are positive, it indicates that the next 24 - 36 hours are the most fertile days in a month and the chances of getting pregnant are more. Ovulation Test thus predict the exact time of ovulation
Types of Ovulation Tests:
There are two types of Ovulation Test, Test Strip and Midstream tests.
Test Strip: Collect a urine sample in a dry container and dip an Ovulation Test strip for few seconds in the urine.
Midstream Tests: Take the Ovulation Test Strip and hold it in the stream of urine for few seconds.
There are many home Ovulation Test products that are available in the market. The normal reaction time of such home based Ovulation Test is just merely 5 minutes. All the Ovulation Tests come with a color code which indicates the effectiveness of the test and determines the working condition of the test. Important Things during the Ovulation Test:
You need to determine the best time of ovulation in a month. So, the Ovulation Test should be conducted at the right time of the day and right time of the month. You usually need to avoid the first few urine samples in the day, and the LH will take at least 4 to 5 hours to reach the urine stream. So, the ideal time to test would be between 11am - 3pm and 5pm - 10pm of the day. Please note, that the time of the Ovulation Test should be same everyday or you would not get the desired results. The test needs to be conducted two times every day, so find out the best time you can follow without missing the timeline.
Also please remember that the best fertilizing period is 24-36 hours from time of the LH Surge which will increase the chances of pregnancy.
